Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day & Welcome Meeting
Meet your fellow travelers at the Go Beyond China office located at the Beijing Jade Hotel by 16:00 pm. The Go Beyond Travel Advisor will review all the details of your upcoming trip with you during the meeting. You may store your baggage at the hotel and go explore the surrounding area if you arrive before check-in time.

Day 2: Beijing, Half-Day Beijing Walking Exploration & Peking Duck Meal
Your tour guide will meet you at the lobby of the Beijing Jade Hotel at 8:30 am. You will visit Tiananmen Square, which is one of the largest public squares in the world and has witnessed many significant events in Chinese history. You will see the Great Hall of the People (facade), the Monument to the People’s Heroes, Chairman Mao’s Memorial Hall (facade), and the National Museum (facade).

Afterwards, you will continue walking to explore the Forbidden City which was the location of the Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasty emperors. It is the biggest and best-preserved cluster of buildings in China. You have the option of visiting the Hall of Imperial Jewelry, the Hall of the Royal Collection of Ancient Watches & Clocks at your own expense.

After visiting the Forbidden City and, if the weather permits, your guide will bring you to Jingshan Park where you will climb the 43 meter Wan Chun Pavilion for a bird's eye-view of the Forbidden City. And, finally, you will have a splendid Peking duck lunch at a local Chinese restaurant (drinks are at your own expense). After finishing your meal, you can continue exploring the city and enjoy other activities by yourself or you can head back to the hotel and relax.

Day 3: Great Wall Excursion & Legend of Kung Fu Show
Your tour guide will pick you up at the lobby of Beijing Jade Hotel at 8:30 am in a private air-conditioned vehicle to take you to visit the Mutianyu Great Wall. The Great Wall is the most well-known symbol of China and is always at the top of any traveler's must-see list. Furthermore, Mutianyu Great Wall is one of the best-preserved and less touristy sections of the Great Wall. You will hike the Great Wall accompanied by your guide to see it snaking across the hills and through the forest. This is an excellent opportunity to take some amazing pictures.

In the afternoon, we will drive you back downtown and, on the way there, we will stop for a photo opportunity at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Park to admire the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. We'll drop you off at the Red Theater so you can attend the Kung Fu show. After the show, your guide will give you detailed information on how to get back to your hotel before leaving and you will proceed go back to your hotel on your own.

Day 4: Beijing – Xian by Overnight train
Today is a free day for you to go explore the city before leaving for your next destination. The driver will pick you up from Beijing Jade Hotel at 17:00 pm and take you to Beijing West Station to board your train to Xi'an. Note that we recommend that you pack food and drink for your dinner and breakfast on the train.

Day 5: Xi'an Arrival
Upon arrival in Xi'an, your driver will be waiting for you at the train station exit and will accompany you to your hostel. You can store your baggage at the hostel and go explore the surrounding area and the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 6: Essential Xi'An City Tour with Traditional Dumpling Experience
You will be picked-up at 8:30 am from the lobby of Han Tang Inn. Today is a fully-packed day and your first stop is at the Terracotta Warriors Museum - arguably the most significant archaeological excavation of the 20th century. Life-size terracotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations are the star features at the museum. They are replicas of what the imperial guard looked like in those days of pomp and vigor.

Afterwards, stop by the ceramic factory to see how the terracotta warriors were traditionally made. We will drive back downtown to enjoy a traditional Chinese dumpling lunch (drinks are at your own expense).

After lunch, we will explore the massive Ancient City wall, first built in the Ming Dynasty and the largest and the best-maintained ancient city wall in China.

Finally, you will be dropped off at the Muslim Quarter where you can try various local foods like ”Paomo” – the most iconice food in Xian, ”Raojiamo” – a local meat burger with a mixture of fat and lean pork in a baked bread pocket. Enjoy the local nightlife and return to your hotel on your own.

Day 7: Xian to Chengdu by day-time bullet train
Morning is free for you to sleep-in or explore the city. You will be picked-up at 13:00 from the lobby of Han Tang Inn and drop you off at the train station to continue your trip to Chengdu. You will be taking the second-class seat train and can expect to arrive at Chengdu East Station in the evening. Your driver will be waiting and take you to your hostel.

Day 8: Chengdu
Today is a free day for you to explore the city on your own. Chengdu is blessed with an abundance of natural and cultural treasures with many options for you to explore. you can see the iconic giant pandas, stroll down Jinli Street try the world-famous Sichuan cuisine. Wide and Narrow Alley is a good place to go for Chengdu flavor and lifestyle, as well as Qingcheng Mountain, Dufu Cottage, Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Wenshu Temple.

Day 9: Full-Day Magnificent Giant Leshan Buddha Tour by Fast Train & Taste of Hotpot
Your guide will be waiting for you in the lobby of Mrs. Panda Hostel at 8:00 am and you'll take public transportation (public bus and subway) to Chengdu South Station to board the train to Leshan.

You'll see the Giant Buddha, built in 713 A.D. and the largest stone Buddha in the world. The buddha was carved out of a cliff face and has remained a magnificent presence in Leshan city for over 1,200 years. The Giant Buddha is 71 meters tall, 28 meters wide, and the hair is made of 1,051 individual spiral coils skillfully embedded on the head. In 1996, the Leshan Giant Buddha were designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.

In the afternoon, we will take local bus back to Leshan Station and board the train back to Chengdu.

After arrival in Chengdu, you'll take the public bus to a local restaurant to enjoy a Sichuanese Hot Pot dinner - challenge yourself with the uniquely spicy fare. Afterwards, head back to your hostel on your own or enjoy the local nightlife!
