Colombo! The city sure has an indescribable allure which has grown steadily from the start of the colonial era in Sri Lanka, starting from the 16th century to the present day and it keeps on growing. Beyond the façade created by sky rises and the continuing urbanization, there are the people, the places and the history that connect to create what you will experience, during this journey through the weaving streets, like the real Colombo.

Your host for today, Rashan, will eagerly take on the privilege of showing you around his beloved city by means that are truly Sri Lankan in every step of the way. Pop in your conveyance, the Tuk-Tuk, the most preferred way for thousands of Lankans to get about and let Rashan take you through the maze of streets, showing you things that are easy to miss and hard to forget. Our favorite part of the program is walking through the crazy streets of Pettah. You will meet a lot of locals here and you may get a glimpse of their daily lifestyle.

Return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 3: Colombo
Enjoy a morning breakfast and then you're free to explore Colombo for the rest of the day. Make sure to be back at your hotel in the afternoon where your guide will be waiting for you for an amazing evening tour of Colombo.

Food often creates a unique identity for a city, for those curious explorers; the discovery of food in a city often leads to a deeper understanding of its people, culture and history. Your host for today, Rashan, will eagerly take on the privilege of showing you around his beloved city by means that are truly Sri Lankan in every step of the way. What better way to ingratiate you with the Colombo vibe other than with its unique cuisine?

Hop in to your Tuk-Tuk, which is the most preferred way to move around the city of Colombo. Your food and arrack expedition in the city will take you on a memorable culinary journey while introducing your taste buds to dishes originated from various parts of the country and the world and how it is been transformed into being the local food culture. The journey will entice your cravings through a night filled with Crispy Vaddais to varieties of Roti meals and of course arrack is among some of the delicacies to expect along the way.

When people admire and love something considerably, they tend to immortalize it. When it comes to us Lankans, the way we pay tribute is by writing songs. Such is the case with Arrack, which holds this rare distinction of being appreciated in lyrics, which is mostly reserved for people. That is the bond we have with this beverage, which in a way would seem a bit fanatic to foreigners but once you are curious enough start walking on that path, you will see how an alcoholic beverage has come to be a culture.

Rashan, quite an aficionado when it comes to Arrack, will guide you through the levels of Arrack which appeals to the high and the low, the sad and the happy and to anyone who wants to have a jolly enjoyable time. Journey with him to a couple of bars and immerse yourself in the stories and norms that surround Arrack, which will leave you with a homely buzz and an understanding into why we have dubbed this the unofficial national drink of the island nation.

The food culture may not be as vibrant as of those in many other famous Southeast Asian destinations, however their stories of origin and the flavorful varieties surely match up to a great local food experience.

Return to your hotel in the evening.
