Itinerary

Day 1: Habarana  to Sigiriya (Approximately 30 minutes) 
Welcome to the Cultural Triangle! Once you arrive at the Habarana Railway Station or Sigiriya bus stop, you will be picked up on Tuk Tuks and transferred to your hostel in Sigiriya.

Transportation: Habarana Railway Station or Sigiriya Bus Station to Tree House Hostel Sigiriya by Tuk-Tuk

Day 2: Sigiriya
Start your day with a visit to Pidurangala Rock, an unforgettable adventure that begins with a serene climb through ancient pathways and rocky terrain. Setting out early rewards you with spectacular views of the sunrise casting its golden light over the lush landscape, with the iconic Sigiriya Rock standing majestically in the distance. The climb, which takes about 30–45 minutes, offers a mix of history, nature, and tranquility. At the summit, soak in the panoramic vistas of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, perfect for photos or quiet reflection.

Return back to the hostel in time for Breakfast.

After your morning adventure, unwind with a swim in a small river, accompanied by the host from your hostel. This serene spot offers a perfect escape from the heat, surrounded by the lush greenery of Sigiriya.

As the day winds down, hike up to a secret rock to catch the scenic sunset with your hostel host. This spot offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, watch the sun dip below the horizon and witness the day’s final light as it paints the sky with warm, golden colors a perfect way to wrap up your day in Sigiriya.

Day 3: Sigiriya – Habarana – Minneriya/Kaudulla/Hurulu National Park – Sigiriya
Gear up for an adventurous day as your local guide – Mohan and his trusty Tuk-Tuk picks you up by 08:30 in the morning and take you out to Habarana and beyond as you explore the rest of the Cultural Triangle today. Arrive in Habarana and set off on a scenic cycling adventure through the heart of rural Sri Lanka, where you’ll explore the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Habarana. This tour offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and the local community as you pedal through picturesque villages, past serene lakes, and along tranquil paddy fields. Along the way, you’ll meet local fishermen casting their rods into the shimmering waters, a timeless practice passed down through generations. If interested, you can try your hand at the traditional fishing methods. The tour also includes stops to interact with friendly villagers, gaining insight into their daily lives and traditions. Take a break from your ride to enjoy a delightful picnic with local snacks, set against the backdrop of Habarana’s  natural beauty. This experience is not just a journey through stunning landscapes but a deep dive into the rich cultural tapestry of Sri Lanka’s rural heartland.

Take a break for lunch (on your own arrangement) at a café to beat the midday heat. Your local host will pick you up by approximately 14:30 to embark on a game drive at one of the National Parks at the Cultural Triangle – Minneriya, Kaudulla or Hurulu Oya National Park.

Set out on an exciting game drive to see the majestic elephants in their natural either at Minneriya, Kaudulla, or Hurulu Oya National Parks depending on the elephant movements between the parks, your local host coordinate and aid you on your safari. These parks are renowned for their rich biodiversity and are prime locations for observing the famous Elephant Gathering, where herds of elephants congregate near the water sources, especially during the dry season. As you traverse the park’s rugged terrain in a safari vehicle, keep your eyes peeled for these gentle giants as they roam freely across the grasslands, often seen bathing, feeding, or playing in the water. Besides elephants, you might also, meet other wildlife, including deer, buffalo, and a rich array of bird species. This game drive offers an unforgettable opportunity to connect with nature and experience the awe-inspiring sight of elephants in the wild.
