Welcome to Mirissa – a tropical paradise on Sri Lanka’s southern coast! Known for its pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and laid-back atmosphere, Mirissa is the perfect destination for relaxation and adventure. Whether you’re here to surf the waves, embark on a whale-watching tour, or simply soak up the sun on the golden sands, Mirissa offers something for everyone.
You will be picked up up at Matara Railway Station or Matara Bus Station (Matara Post Office) and bring to your hostel in Mirissa.
Transportation: Matara Railway Station or Matara Bus Station by Car or Van

Day 2: Weligama
This morning you will be picked up on a Tuk Tuk by 08:30 AM. and transferred to the Be Cool Surf School in Weligama in time for your 2-hour surfing lesson that starts at 09:00 AM. Over the course of two hours, you’ll learn the fundamentals of surfing, whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your skills. The experienced instructors will guide you through paddling techniques, balancing on the board, and catching your first waves in the gentle, beginner-friendly waters of Weligama Bay. It’s a fun and energizing way to connect with the ocean and kickstart your day in the south Coast of Sri Lanka!
After your surfing lessons, you may spend the rest of the day on your own, leisurely by the beach or explore some local cafes and restaurants in the area.

Day 3: Mirissa
Early this morning, your tuk tuk will pick you up from the hostel by 06:00 AM for a 10 minutes’ drive out to Mirissa Harbor, where you will embark on a Whale and Dolphin watching expedition on a shared boat. The boat will leave Mirissa harbor by 06:30 AM. for a half a day expedition and return by around mid-day – the exact time of return is usually decided by whale and dolphin sightings.
These trips offer a thrilling opportunity to see blue whales, sperm whales, and playful dolphins up close in their natural environment. The excursions typically set off early in the morning, giving you a chance to enjoy the calm waters and the beautiful sunrise as you embark on your ocean adventure. Whether you’re a seasoned wildlife enthusiast or just looking for an unforgettable experience, Mirissa’s whale and dolphin watching tours are a must-do.
