Emergency Update: Nepal (September 2025)

Mass protests erupted in Nepal after a government-imposed social media ban, leading to violent clashes in Kathmandu and other cities.

  • The ban has now been lifted following public pressure.
  • The Home Minister resigned; the government held an emergency meeting.
  • International groups are calling for a transparent investigation into the security response.

Thailand–Cambodia Border News – 27 August 2025

Thailand and Cambodia held an extraordinary border committee meeting in Si Sa Ket and agreed on an 11-point framework to:

  • Improve military communication
  • Prevent provocations
  • Maintain the ceasefire reached in July

Thailand also announced plans to reinforce security barriers at Ban Nong Chan in Sa Kaeo following earlier tensions. No fresh clashes have been reported.

Tourism & Travel Advisory:

  • Authorities advise avoiding travel within 50 km of the conflict zone.
  • Major destinations remain safe and unaffected, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket in Thailand, and Siem Reap, Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

Economic Concerns:
Business leaders caution that prolonged tensions may affect tourism and cross-border trade, emphasizing the importance of a swift resolution.
