Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi to Manali
In the late afternoon/evening pick up from your hotel and transfer to the bus station where you will take a night bus to Manali (550kms, about 15h drive). There are stops along the way with the opportunity to buy dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Manali
Welcome to Manali! Meet a representative of Go Beyond for a private transfer to your hotel. Check-in and rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3: Manali
Today you will go on a guided city tour where you will visit Naggar Castle, Roerich Art Gallery, Hidimba Temple and the hot springs at Vashist. In the evening you can take a walk in the cozy old town and past the Tibetan bazaar on your own (no guide).

Day 4: Manali to Keylong
After breakfast, the drive starts in a private car with a driver through the beautiful green Kullu valley to the top of the 3,980-meter high Rohtang Pass. From here it goes down to Koksar, where there is a small tea break, and you are registered with the local police.

Along the way, several small mountain villages are passed – for example Sissu, where the inhabitants are very curious about guests. You drive on over the bridge where the Chandra and Bhaga rivers meet and continue to Keylong, the main town of the Lahaul and Spiti region. It is a rich city where the people live by selling peas and apricots to other parts of India.

Day 5: Keylong to Sarchu
After breakfast, the trip goes to Darcha, where you must again be registered with your passport. From here the road meanders quietly upwards until it reaches the spectacular "double pass" Baralacha-La (4,800 m). From here it descends all the way to Bharatpur, with impressive views along the way. From Bharatpur, the terrain is flatter, and you pass beautiful valleys on your way to the accommodation in Sarchu. There is time for you to explore the city on your own.

The camp, where you spend the night, is in a beautiful valley with the mountains as a beautiful backdrop. It can be very cold at this altitude, so wear good clothes and a warm sleeping bag and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Day 6: Sarchu to Leh
On this day you reach the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Here the nature changes and becomes a more desert-like landscape, where the colors and mountain formations are unique. The first high pass is Lachchalung (5,100 m). From here there is a descent to Pang, where a small colony of nomads lives in the summer. is driven on through a flat landscape before the ascent to the world's second highest mountain pass accessible by car begins: Tanglang-La at 5,320 meters altitude. The climb is long, and the hairpin turns are sharp, but the views are worth the entire nerve-wracking trip. From here there is a long descent through the beautiful villages of Rumtse, Gya and Lato. The mountains around Gya and Lato are special with reddish hues and beautiful formations. You will arrive at your hotel in Leh late in the evening.

Day 8: Leh to Yangthang
From Leh, it is a short drive (about an hour) to Liker, where the trekking tour starts. First, visit the village and the beautiful Liker monastery before hiking towards the village of Sumdo. Later, there is a gradual ascent up to the mountain pass Pobe La, which is at an altitude of 3,550 meters, and Charatse La at an altitude of 3,650 meters. You arrive in Yangthang in the late afternoon, where you spend the night in a homestay with a local family.

Day 9: Yangthang to Hemis Shukpachan
After breakfast, continue to Rezong. You walk along streams and through dense green apricot and apple orchards. After about half an hour you arrive at a nunnery surrounded by mountains. After lunch, you will hike on to Hemis Shukpachan, where you will spend the night in a homestay.

Day 10: Hemis Shukpachan to Themisgam
Today you must walk a little longer than the other days. You leave the village and continue to Themisgam via Maptek La (3,750 m). From the pass there is a beautiful view of the village of Ang. We hike down to Themisgam and visit some ruins from an old fort, as well as a small monastery. You spend the night again in a homestay.

Day 11: Themisgam to Lamayuru
You descend to Khaltse via the Bongbongchan La pass and continue to the main road. Here you will be picked up and driven to the Lamayuru monastery and the village, where you will spend the night in a homestay.

Day 12: Lamayuru to Leh
After breakfast visit Rizong Monastery and drive back to Leh. On the way, the Alchi monastery is visited. On arrival in Leh, you will be driven to your guesthouse and have the rest of the day on your own.
