Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Cochin – Munnar
Welcome to Kerala! Arrive in Cochin and you will meet our representative at your pick up location and transfer to a secluded and permanent Camp located in Chinnakanal, 26 kms away from Munnar town.
Munnar is one of the most popular hill stations in India, situated at the confluence of three mountain streams –Mudrapuzha, Nallathanniand Kundala. Located at 1600 meters above sea level, this was once the summer resort of the past British Government in South India.
In Munnar you will find a wide range of unique experiences and beautiful surroundings including sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes and waterfalls like Nyayamakad. You also find Rajamala natural habitat – a lovely green paradise high up in the hills and home to the rare mountain goat ‘Nilgiri Tahr’ just 15 Km away from Munnar. Equally, you find Eravikulam National Park which is breathtakingly beautiful and easily comparable to the best mountain ranges found anywhere in the world, located in the Devikulam Taluk and also home to the Nilgiri Tahr. Overnight at hotel/camp.

Day 2: Munnar – Day Trek
After breakfast, you will depart for Munnar town. From here you go by jeep to the start point of today’s trek in a silent and beautiful valley about 20 kilometres from Munnar. We will start trekking from an altitude of 1500 metres and gradually ascend to over 2600 metres, passing through sholas (high altitude rain forests) and grasslands, which are typical to the higher areas of the Western Ghats. The trek goes through Rodo Valley, so named after the Rhododendron Trees and finally touches Meesapullimala. Afterwards you trek back down to the Camp/ hotel. Overnight at hotel/camp.

Day 3: Munnar – Thekkady – Half-day trek
After breakfast, you will be taken from Munnar to Thekkady and proceed to Gavi, located inside the buffer zone of the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Gavi is an eco-tourism project run by the Kerala Forest Development Corporation. It is prominent as both an elephant and a tiger reserve.
The park is often called the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary but also referred to by the name "Thekkady". It is set high in the Cardamom Hills and Pandalam Hills of the South-Western Ghats along the border of Tamil Nadu state.
Check in to a guesthouse, a small building which houses 6 rooms. After tea, depart for a jeep safari into the surrounding area. Return and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Thekkady – Full day trek
After breakfast, you will go for a full day forest trek. Periyar is the home of the rare and endangered Lion Tailed Macaques and an excellent spot for birds and rare butterflies, as well as large herds of elephants and gaurs. During the day, you will do trek through typical grassland-shola eco-systems. After trekking you will return back to Gavi and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Thekkady – Alleppy – Kayaking
After breakfast you will drive to Alleppey, and check in to your hotel.
Afterwards, you will proceed for a kayaking trip in Pallathuruthy. Here your kayaking guides will brief you on safety and other relevant aspects of your kayaking sojourn since you will be kayaking through relatively big channels. These routes are quite popular with the houseboats, local transport boats and the local traders. Canoes and country boats are the main form of transport around these parts so quite often you would have the villagers for company while you are kayaking. After the kayaking trip, you will go back to your hotel. Overnight at hotel

Day 6: Alleppey – Houseboat
After breakfast, checkout from your hotel and transfer to the houseboat. Board to the houseboat and prepare to take in the beauty of Kerala’s backwaters. Kick back and relax while the boat cruises and enjoy the narrow serene backwater canals. On the way, you will have your lunch and evening tea/coffee with snacks. Continue the cruise through the backwaters in a different direction to experience villages and country life of the locals. You may see great varieties of migratory birds from different parts of the world from the houseboat.
In the evening at about sunset, the boat is anchored. Enjoy your dinner and the rest of your evening on the houseboat far away from polluted cities and maddening crowds. The Only disturbance will be the twinkle of a shining star or the fishes that dive around you and peep out to say hello by waving their tail from the water. Most of the time there is a provision of Direct to Home satellite connection and television on the houseboat for entertainment when the boat is anchored. Overnight stay at the Houseboat.

Day 7: Alleppey – Cochin
The houseboat starts cruising early morning. After Breakfast, check out from the houseboat and drive back to Cochin/Trivandrum from where you may proceed to your next destination.
