Sihanoukville and the Southwest
Long dance nights. Endless karaoke. A bucket for less than 6 dollars. Slow mornings with pancakes, or early rise for adventures at sea. When explored, survived or enjoyed, head west into the Cardamom Mountains or east for the slower seaside of Kep.
Sihanoukville, originally a deep-sea port, is now a vibrant and lively travelers hangout. Some might find it too much with the buckets of alcohol sold here for nothing and the party scene. And yes Serendipity beach is the most happening beach in Cambodia, that’s for sure, while the other famous beach here, Otres, is a key more relaxed for those preferring that.
Right outside Sihanoukville, some fine islands for snorkeling are awaiting the curious ones.
Further to the west from here, Koh Kong and the Cardamom mountains is the place for a growing focus on ecotourism in Cambodia, and worth a fine stop if heading into Thailand through the Back door. If approaching Thailand this way, into the Trat province, you are also close to Ko Chang, Ko Mook and Ko Kood , where we have our own, Ko Kood Beach Resort.
