Day 1: Arrive in Shanghai (Free day)
As the plane touches down in Shanghai you will be happy to know that you are not just eyeing Shanghai from the airport. Instead, you have 72 hours to wander the city’s streets, taking in the atmosphere while all practicalities have been taken care of for you.
In the arrival hall, your driver will hold a sign with your name and transfer you to hostel/hotel in downtown Shanghai.
Your guide will call you right after your check in to your hotel, and offer a few insider tips on Shanghai – how and where to explore, where to spend your first night in Shanghai and of course be very glad to answer all the questions you may have.
The rest of your day/evening is free for you to get to know the city and with easy access to all that Shanghai has to offer you will not be bored.
Overnight at hotel/hostel.

Day 2: Shanghai (Full day urban exploration)
Prepare for a full day of impressions, flavours, colours and sights – a peek into Shanghai’s past and present; a big bite of the urban bustling city life.
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel/hostel at 08:30. You will start with the famous landmark and colonial styled the Bund – a beautiful riverside stretch of architecture detailing European neo-colonial buildings. This is your introduction to Shanghai’s international past and present. Onwards you go to visit The French Concession. This represents the foreign concession in Shanghai from 1849 until 1946, and was the premier residential and retail district of Shanghai for much of the 20th Century. With its European style cafes, quiet leafy, tree-lined avenues and Tudor house nestled in Shanghai old town it is a charming and atmospheric area. And a great contrast to your stroll along Nanjing road, and the modern Xintiandi – an upmarket, pedestrian only, shopping, eating and entertainment district composed of refurbished shikumen houses, narrow alleys and stone paved courtyards.
In the afternoon you will continue to Shanghai Silk Carpet Factory for an introduction to and understanding of this piece of art. Flow on to the Shanghai Museum where you have the opportunity to discover some of China’s priceless pieces of ancient art consisting of bronze, ceramic, jade and calligraphy.
After a long day of exploration you will be set free in the afternoon to spend your evening as you please.
Overnight at hotel/hostel.

Day 3: Shanghai (Free day and departure)
Spend the morning exploring at your own pace if you have time. And though the city has so many temptations, remember to check out before 12:00.
Your driver will pick you up from here at a pre-arranged time and transfer you to the airport. A couple of days have passed in “Paris of the East” and you are ready to fly to your next destination.
