Day 2: Vientiane
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning. Your first first stop will be Wat Sisaket, the only structure to survive the Siamese Invasion of 1828 intact. From there we'll walk across the street to Wat Ho Phra Kheo, which was rebuilt in the 1930s and used to house the famous Emerald Buddha which is now on display in the Grand Palace in Bangkok. From there, we'll continue to Patuxai, a Lao Victory Monument, finished around 70 years ago. The monument was built using American funds and cement but the funds were intended to build a new airport. The Royal Laotian Government instead decided to build the monument, which earned the nickname of the "vertical runway." We'll then head to That Luang – the most holy structure in all of Laos and which you'll notice is prominently featured in many Laos emblems. We'll end our excursion with a trip to the COPE Visitor Center for an insight into the Secret War which to this day makes Laos the most heavily bombed country in history.

In the afternoon we'll take a ride outside of Vientiane to visit the famous Buddha Park close to the Friendship Bridge. On the way back we'll stop at the Lao Disabled Women Development Center where women with disabilities come from all over Laos to live and study here, gaining life skills and vocational training to empower them to set up an independent life. We'll return to Vientiane in the late afternoon and the rest of the day is free at leisure.
