Trekking Bhairab Kunda and Namo Buddha
An old pilgrim on the way across a mountain pass with prayer flags. Green valleys with small life giving springs and grassing horses. A hot boiling chocolate at a ridge vith a view to mountains in Tibet. Villages far away from the nearest roadhead.
Not far from Kathmandu, yet remote, our signature treks the Bhairab Kunda and Namo Buddha is for you who would like an off the beaten track experience, on treks that are not too long. We seldom meet other groups of trekkers here, but we meet locals. Farmers, kids on the way to a school high on a ridge, monks heading back from a monastery.
There are no teahouses in these areas and we do it as camping treks. Where we bring tents, a crew of joyful Nepali guides, porter and cooks, have freshly cooked food and camp the best spots. It is possible to combine the Bhairab Kunda trek with a stay at the adventure camp, Last Resort, and do the Bhote Kosi River 1 day rafting from here.
The best trekking season is spring, marts to May, and autumn, September including November. In spring, the rhododendrons flowers blossoms, potato fields blossom too, and all is crispy green. This is the time also where most expeditions gather at the basecamps for their assaults. Autumn is clearest, after the summer monsoon is over, and temperatures are perfect for trekking.
