Itinerary

Day 1: Pick-up from Ranong and island - hopping

You will be picked up in the morning from Ranong Airport or from your accommodation in Ranong City Center and transferred to the pier. After a smooth immigration process, we will start our island-hopping trip.

Cocks Comb Island is part of the Mergui Archipelago in the Andaman Sea, it is situated just off the coast of Kawthaung, the most Southern city of Myanmar (Burma). The island is a limestone atoll without a beach, but with a stunning lagoon, shaped like a heart. The inlet changes the colours of the ocean, which is why it is also called Emerald Heart Island.

In the morning we leave from Kawthaung. Enjoy the fresh breeze on the ocean while cruising along scenic islands. Our first stop is at Cocks Comb Island, where we enter the Emeralds Heart by swimming through a natural tunnel (guided). We then continue to Paradise Island for snorkelling, where you will see the fantastic diversity of hard and soft coral.

Our third stop will be at Dunkin Island, it is also called Tafook Island. We’ll enjoy a lunch buffet on a paradise beach, the fine white sand is a perfect place for beach holiday photos. Feel free to take a stroll along the beach and listen to the sound of the ocean and jungle. We’ll continue towards St. Matthews Island, better known under its Burmese name Zar Det Gyi Kyun. Here we will show you another great place for snorkelling, where we might spot clown fishes (nemo), sea anemones, angle fish, eels, and more.

We will return in the afternoon back to Kawthaung. After your return, you will board the public minivan to Tanintharyi Town. Your guide will be awaiting you to check you in to the hotel.

Dinner for this day will be on your own expense.

Meals: Lunch
Accommodation: Overnight at Local Guesthouse in Tanintharyi
Note: There are no changing facilities on the boat.

Day 2: Trekking and Kayaking Tanintharyi - Myeik

After breakfast, we have a walk through the old town, where Dragon Boat Racing was famous. One of the boats is on displace and seated up to 60 people. For those who come in November, you might be lucky to visit the annual festival.
Our traditional boat will tow us out of town up the river for a bit. Feel free to be on the kayaks, whenever you want and paddle.

We’ll be in Thara Bwin around lunch time, where we have lunch overlooking the river. After a short drive, we’ll arrive at the foot of the Karst Mountain. We start to climb the single karst rock formation on a manmade path. Some sections are fitted with wooden ladders to overcome the steeps. After a 45-minute climb, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning 360 degrees view of the surrounding farm lands and Tanintharyi River.

We’ll have a quick stop in Tagu Village for refreshments, feel free to try some snacks at the local market. You’ll proceed to Myeik in the afternoon.

Dinner will be on your own expense.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Overnight at local Hostel in Myeik.

Day 3: Island hopping and camping on Thel-Ni-Aw Island

We’ll make an early start from Myeik’s Seik Nge Jetty. It's a one-and-a-half-hour cruise to Dome Island, feel the fresh sea breeze as we pass beautiful mangrove forests. Here and there tiny villages line the shore, the people who live here catch fishes, crabs, mussels and oysters.

Our first stop will be at Dome Waterfall, which cascades down from high above right into the ocean. You can climb up and have a refreshing bath. Please be careful walking around on the slippery rocks and respect the fishing boats, who might refill their fresh water supplies.

Later on, we’ll arrive to Dome Nyaung Mine Village. The fishermen share their place with sea gypsies, which are called Moken in the local language. Their lifestyles remind us of a simpler time before bank accounts, life insurance, and many spend their lives permanently at sea during the dry season, only seeking the shelter of land when the heavy rains come. We will have seafood and vegetarian lunch in the authentic village.

After lunch, we’ll cruise on to Smart Island for swimming and snorkelling in pristine waters. The shapes of the island with one long beach and three smaller ones are one of its kin. The long and the small beaches are within 5 - 10 minutes walking distance.

Enjoy you afternoon relaxing, swimming, playing, sunbathing and any other activities you would like to do. On the way back, we’ll drop you off at Thel Ni Aw Island, where you’ll be checking in to your pre-set tent. The rest of the afternoon is to your own leisure and we’ll prepare the dinner for you.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Overnight in Tented camp.

Day 4: Relaxing on Thel-Ni-Aw-Island

Wake up to the sound of the waves and the jungle, enjoy your coffee and breakfast. We’ll have the whole a free day, take the kayak for a spin or snorkel at our house reef. We’ll prepare lunch for you and wait for the speedboat to pick us up around 15:00 pm.

We’ll return to Myeik in the afternoon, where you’ll be transferred to your hotel.

Dinner will be on your own expense.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Overnight at Hostel in Myeik.

Day 5: Cultural experiences and Myeik Local life

After breakfast, we’ll start exploring Myeik, one of the biggest fishing towns in Myanmar. We’ll talk about its incredibly interesting history. Already in the early 17th century, the East Indian Trading Company were unloading their ships at the ports of Myeik. Most of the goods would go inland and from there, up to Tanintharyi and further on to the old capital of Siam Ayutthaya. “Beik” as the locals call their hometown, produces everything that is needed for the fishing industry.

Another industry is swiftlet bird nests, which are a delicacy in China. Many Myeik residents offer those birds a home, we’ll visit one of those bird nest hotels. The dry market offers everything people need in Myeik. We have a stroll through the huge market with ever-smiling friendly vendors and explain the goods of the region. After a stroll through the old colonial quarter, we’ll visit the Royal Pearl trading shop, which has been owned by the same family for over 150 years. We’ll have a chance to learn about the pearl industry and how difficult it is to cultivate them.

We’ll give you some free time to have lunch, before you board your minivan (the ride will take approximately 6 - 7 hours) to Dawei.

Accommodation: Overnight at a Local Hotel in Dawei.
Note: All meals of the day will be on your own expense.

Day 6: Easy riding through the countryside

If you’d like, we can skip the breakfast at your hotel to get an early start and have some delicious breakfast at the local market. In the morning we’ll have a quick look around Dawei and some family business before we head out to the countryside by motorbike. We’ll drive pass the rice fields and rural villages until we arrive at a typical fishing village.

We’ll stop every now and then to explain the local agriculture, for example rubber and cashew nut plantations (seasonal). We’ll drive up the mountain range for beautiful views over the island.

After lunch, we’ll have time to look around the fishing village. The local people produce dry fish and fish paste (nga pyi, seasonal). The paste for Western tongues is most likely nothing to be fancy with, but for Asian people it is mouth-watering.

Afterwards, we are going to relax on a secluded beach. Enjoy the beach, relax in the shade or swim around.

On the way back, we can have a taste of the local brew called Sky Beer, it tastes a little bit like cider or German Federweiser. We’ll arrive to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Overnight at Local Hotel in Dawei.

Day 7: Boat cruise and snorkelling at Loung Lone Bok Island

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Dawei and transfer you to San Hlan Village. While we load the boat, you’ll have sometimes to look around the traditional fishing village. The kids are always curious to meet you. Have you asked yourself where all the ice comes from? Check out the ice factory at the end of the village!

Afterwards, we’ll cruise towards Loung Lone Bok Island. Along the way, we’ll pass the Passion Island and Tizit Beach. Enjoy the scenery and the fresh breeze on the way. We’ll serve you traditional snack breakfast on the boat.

After about 1.5 hours cruise along crystal clear waters, we’ll reach our first snorkelling spot. Jump into the water and play with nemo and other colourful fishes. Around 30 minutes later, you’ll be on the remote beach with shady trees.
While we’re preparing fresh BBQ lunch for you, enjoy the time and go for another swim or snorkel.

After lunch, we’ll drive to another pristine snorkelling site with more hard and soft corals. You can spot nemo house as well as other colourful fishes.

We’ll leave Loung Lone Bok Island behind us, cruise to San Lan Village and transfer back to Dawei.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: Overnight at Local Hotel in Dawei
Note: Dinner will be on your own expense.

Day 8: Continue from Dawei on your own or extend your trip

Enjoy your breakfast and continue your travel after check-out at 11:00 am. From here, you can either continue on your own to Yangon from Dawei Airport, go by bus to Mawlamyine and Hpa An or simply travel back into Thailand via Kanchanaburi.

Whatever you may wish, we are more than happy to help.
