Itinerary

Day 1: Darjeeling - Maneybhanjyang - Tonglu

We will pick you up from Darjeeling in the morning and drive to Maneybhanjyang (2,134m; 1.5 hour), the starting point of the trek. The day’s walk, about 6 hours, is uphill and the trail passes through the small village of Chitre and forests of rhododendrons and magnolias. The camping area at Tonglu (3,020m) is located on a hilltop overlooking the Sikkim Himalayas. Overnight at Tonglu.


Day 2: Tonglu - Kalpokhri

Today you have a pleasant walk through the forest, which is home to the rare Red Panda and the Tragopan. After about 5 hours you will reach the camping area of Kalapokhri (3,100m), where you will spend the night in camp.


Day 3: Kalpokhri - Sandakphu

After breakfast, you will start the trek to Sandakphu (3,636m), which takes about 6 hours. Sandakphu offers excellent views of the mountains. On a clear day one can see the peaks of Lhotse (8,501m), Everest (8,848m) and Makalu (8,475m) of the Nepali Himalayas and the huge Kanchenjunga massif (8,586m) along with other peaks of the Sikkim Himalayas. Overnight at Sandakphu. After breakfast, you will start the trek to Sandakphu (3,636m), which takes about 6 hours. Sandakphu offers excellent views of the mountains. Day 4: Sandakphu - Phalut

The trail follows a ridge is considered one of the most enjoyable and scenic walks in the Himalayas. The entire range of snowy peaks is always in view and the trail passes through high altitude vegetation and areas of dwarf rhododendrons and firs. The walk to Phalut (3,600m) is about 7 hours. Overnight at Phalut


Day 5: Phalut - Rammam

In the early morning you will walk up to Phalut summit to view the sunrise over the Himalayas. After breakfast, you will start trekking to Rammam (2,560m), which takes about 5 hours. The trail passes through the villages of Gorkhey and Samanden and the forest provides ample opportunities for bird watching. Overnight at Rammam.


Day 6: Rammam - Rimbik

From Rammam the trail descends (6 hours) to the bridge at Sirikhola and passes through a number of small villages to reach Rimbik (2,280m), the road head. Overnight at Rimbick.


Day 7: Rimbik - Darjeeling

After breakfast we will drive you to Darjeeling back. Later you will proceed on your own.
