Day 2: Bike the backstreets of Bangkok and explore Bangkok’s Green Lung
Start your first full day in Bangkok with a slow breakfast and ask the Travel Advisors for advice and recommendation on Bangkok. Today’s Bike tour begins from Oakwood Hotel on Sukhumvit Road Soi 24, you are responsible for your own transport to and from the starting point. You can go by taxi or by sky train to Phrom Phong station.

Departing at 13.00 pm from the Oakwood Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 24, we’ll start our bike ride through the backstreets to Queen Sirikit Park and the Khlong Toei wet market. This bustling local gem is Thailand’s biggest fresh food market, with hundreds of stalls selling everything from raw meat, vegetables, fruit and seafood that have been brought here from the nearby fishing port. Prepare yourself for a real Thai market where the locals flock for the best bargain and most hard-to-find ingredients and dishes.

From the market we’ll bike towards Bang Krajao, crossing the iconic Chao Phaya river by longtail boat and cross into Samut Prakan province. If you pop open Google Maps, you’ll see what we mean by “Green Lung” as this island of green is surrounded by the urban jungle of Bangkok on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya. You‘ll immediately get a feeling for what the provinces of Bangkok are like instead of the concrete jungle of Thailand’s big cities. For a brief moment, you’ll enjoy a break and ride around the tranquil and tropical surroundings that is one of the most popular quick getaways for Bangkokians. We’ll take our time to enjoy the ride and follow some tropical jungle trails and visit some interesting sites…

As we hop from jungle trail to jungle trail, we’ll stop at a local restaurant to satisfy some mid-afternoon food cravings and try some local dishes. And don’t worry, we’ll provide water, fruit and other local snacks as we ride along, letting our experienced guide select the day’s most interesting fare as we go along. We’ll ride back to Oakwood Hotel Residence Sukhumvit 24 approximately at 17.00 pm.

Day 3: Backwaters of Bangkok and departure for Koh Pha Ngan
Have your breakfast and prepare to check-out before you start your Backwaters of Bangkok tour at 09:00 am from the Lobby of New Road Guest House. After a short walk you embark a longtail boat and move down the Chao Phraya the main river in Bangkok, with amazing backdrop views of the Bangkok skyline, before making a turn to enter the klongs. You will pass a range of local wooden stilt houses with clothes hanging to be dried in the sun, a local "7 eleven", klong style. Feel the atmosphere of having entered the klongs. You will hear Thai music being played from the houses, you will see birds looking at the trespassing boats, if you are lucky you will spot one of the sunbathing lizards.

The first stop is at the temple Wat Khun Chan where you will be inspired by the postmodern temples on one side of the klongs and the feeling of old days on the other with the beauty of the river crossing through the landscape. From there it’s onwards to the artist place, with old wooden walkways with artists, an old barber shop, an old grocery, vintage posters, colors of freedom, and a small stupa licking the sunlight. Feel the quietness surrounding this place. A stop will be made where you can feed holy Catfish. It’s a remarkable sight when hundreds of fish come to the surface seemingly out of nowhere!

Upon leaving the klongs you will see several houses on stilts and how locals live in small houses on the river. Then we leave the quietness and get back to noisy, Chao Phraya River and the majestic grand palace. The tour ends at the Chao Phraya River, Pier 9 around 12:30 pm. From here you can visit the temples on your own, continue to the shopping malls or take the public ferry and sail back to New Road Guest House.

After the trip, it is possible to relax at New Road Guest House in the lobby and get a shower before you have to transfer yourself to the pick-up place for the overnight bus to Koh Pha Ngan. You have to be at the pick-up place no later than 20.00. The travel advisors at New Road Guest House will be happy to assist you with a map and the information you need to get there in time.

Day 4: Arrival Koh Pha Ngan - The party island
When you arrive at the pier you can feel the vibe and the atmosphere on the island as a lot of young party seekers are arriving to enjoy the famous full moon party. Jump in one of the many shared taxi or minivans and tell the driver that you are going to Same Same in Haad Rin. It is a thrilling ride up and down steep hills, so make sure to hold on tight. Upon arrival at Same Same you have to ask for Heidi or Christina. They will then check you in to either Same Same or another Guest House nearby (check-in time is from 12.00). The rooms are basic but fine – but hey a real party animal will stay in the sun and party all night, so no need to splash all your money for honey moon suites at this time. One dime more for buckets on the beach will be a better choice in this occasion. Kick back, relax and enjoy that you have arrived.

Accommodation: Overnight at Same Same, or similar

Day 5: Activity day - Koh Pha Ngan
Today you will have an option of choosing between three tours. You will be asked upon arrival on day one for which tour you want to join.

Tour 2: Explore the islands hidden paths on an afternoon bike tour. You will ride through the jungle with experienced guides who will point out places of interest hidden away from the normal tourist trails.

Tour 3: Thai Cooking Class – here you will learn to cook like a real Thai chef. Regardless of which trip you choose we will finish off the day with dinner back at Same Same.
